DOWNUNDERLUST - THE TRAVELS OF MATT AND KIM

@downunderlust is the travel brand, and social media following for Matt and his fiancée Kim, documenting their travels camping, fishing, 4x4 touring and photographing through outback Australia.

Originally from Sydney, Matt and Kim have lived on the road between remote cattle stations, coastal fishing camps, rooftop tents and swags throughout the outback, working in various roles around the West Coast and Northern Territory since 2016

They are currently the operations managers at Mt Barnett Roadhouse and running the Manning Campground on the Gibb River Rd W.A

Downunderlust Canvas - Kim's Outdoor Equipment

This is Kim's branch of the Brand, her own standalone manufacturing business.

In her words : "Downunderlust Canvas started with a little grey sewing machine in a tin shed in Broome. An old swag given to us by a mustering pilot was made into that very first bag. For several years my canvas creations were for our own personal use. Pretty soon we had bags for everything – hammocks, picnic rugs, recovery gear, toiletries, cords, pens – you name it. I’m sure most of our GVM allowance was being taken up by canvas! But I loved being able to make a bag for exactly what we needed one for. As I shared photos of our gear on our adventures, friends and family started to asked for them too. Then they asked for more. And so Downunderlust Canvas grew to where it is today."

"But our gear is still, and always will, be tried and tested by us. We use the firewood slings when we camp. Actually we have two, only because Matt fell in love with one made from a swag which had an old aussie swag manufacturer's stamp on it and he wouldn’t let me sell it! Our draws are filled with Zippered Pouches and our back seat with Grab-All and Zippered Bags."
